Bringing indoor and outdoor sets to life for Ooni at Base Studios

Recently, we welcomed Ooni, the renowned pizza oven company, to the studio to create 32 recipe videos. This project highlights the versatility and innovation of Base Studios in crafting immersive environments for brands.

The creative vision: Ooni’s story

Ooni has revolutionised the way we think about home-cooked pizza with their high-quality, portable pizza ovens. Their brand is all about combining quality craftsmanship with the joy of outdoor cooking. Ooni’s aim was to create stunning visuals that capture both a stylish aesthetic of an indoor setting think the Bear meets Babish Culinary Universe and a stylish, contemporary walled garden ready for outdoor dining. 

Here’s how we made it happen through the use of our sets, adapting the space and making us of the facilities all whilst making sure Ooni loved every second of being here!

1. State-of-the-Art studio setup

At Base Studios, we understand that every detail matters. For the indoor scenes, Ooni’s project called for:

• Flexible studio spaces: With us being in the North of England, we couldn’t guarantee perfect sunshine to shoot those outside scenes. Thankfully we were able to bring the outdoors in and build an outdoor space to shoot within the studio itself. Our versatile spaces allowed for seamless transitions between indoor kitchen setups and staged outdoor sets, ensuring every angle told a compelling story whilst not having to worry about the weather. 
• Customisable lighting: We used lighting techniques to mimic indoor ambiance and natural outdoor light whilst highlighting Ooni’s sleek product.
• Thoughtful props and decor: To create a stylish home kitchen feel, our extensive prop collection was raided with Ooni’s brand identity in mind. With over 500+ props to choose from, the team had an array of options at their finger tips.

• Natural lighting techniques: By leveraging our outdoor set capabilities and integrating realistic lighting, we recreated golden-hour aesthetics.
• Dynamic environments: By featuring lush greenery and maximising the studio space with the set build, our outdoor setups were tailored to show how Ooni ovens shine in outdoor settings.
• Weather Adaptability: Even unpredictable conditions couldn’t stop us. With weather-contingency plans in place, we ensured consistent shooting schedules and top-quality results.
